DESIGN INSPIRATION
Field Oak & Terrazzo
These two palettes are nearly identical, with the wallpaper standing as the only difference. The pine color is rather similar to Sherwin William’s Rosemary 6187, which would serve as a nice visual interest in various areas in a home. For instance, in a dining area with a bar, bookcase, or other furniture pieces, the wallpaper would provide additional visual interest if place behind the furniture; with a furniture piece like the bookcase in mind, the wallpaper behind the shelves themselves—perhaps installed inside of the bookcase itself instead of the wall—would provide more texture and visual interest than the blank area behind the shelves. Wood picture moldings framing square-cuts of the wallpaper could also provide a unique and eye-catching design element to the space.
If the wallpaper’s similar color to the paint is not something that speaks to you, other colors from the Magnolia Home Branches wallpaper collection could be better, hence the second option. Regardless of what palette speaks to you more, the warm, yellow-toned Karndean planks blends wonderfully with Happy Feet’s terrazzo LVT, creating a beautiful harmony of different textures. The Rosemary further establishes a nice, earthy atmosphere, with the Alabaster serving as a wonderful foundational visual cleanser that also ties the terrazzo into the space due to their similar white shades in the two materials.
Going with the earthy atmosphere, natural materials such as linen work wonderfully, while knitted textures provide a human, yet grounded touch to the space. Plants with unique pots, from terracotta to glass, add more life to the space by calling upon other natural materials.

Lemon Spotted Gum & Dove Feather
A client enjoyed the earthy tones of our Field Oak and Terrazzo design, but they wanted something a little bit darker for the floor colors. So… out with Field Oak and in with Karndean’s Lemon Spotted Gum! A wood that is a little bit darker than Field Oak but still has the same feel. Lemon Spotted Gum also pulls away from the yellow-feel of Field Oak, giving the wood more depth and opportunity for more colors to naturally appear. Looking at the palette, you can see we also dropped Happy Feet’s Terrazzo and replaced it with Karndean’s Calacatta d’Oro. We needed something with a little less color variety that terrazzo patterns typically have but still has a nice dramatic element going on. Calacatta d’Oro does just that, with whites, creams, greys, and hints of yellow-gold following together to create a beautiful statement. Furthermore, Calacatta d’Oro has a unique origin story, where the sample marble Karndean used to make the LVT comes from one of Italy’s oldest marble quarry mines. The mine is opened for only two weeks out of the entire year, and when it is open, the quarry sells the materials on an invite-only basis, meaning that the stones sold from this specific mine is one-of-a-kind, extremely rare, and high-end, harvested and shaped with Italian craftsmanship. Now, one of the marbles harvested from this mine can be in your home, holding the unique heritage the original stone has to offer but at an accessible price! Not to mention that because this is an LVT, the risks of harvesting and treating marble for use is mitigated, as that processes for this specific pattern only had to be done once; now you can get marble without the consequence given to those working with the material and without the environmental impact from mining, shaping, and shipping a unique piece to your home!
With the hard surfaces out of the way, we can take a look at the soft surfaces. Marquis’s Dove Feather from the Simply Awesome line has a nice blend of colors that go well with the hard surfaces, while also paying compliment to the paint colors the client wanted to use. The carpet in the bedrooms can tie in with the rest of the house, making the whole home feel cohesive. To add another touch of luxury, we’ve included two rug options from the luxury companies Masland and Fabrica. The Masland Santorini in Picturesque rug is an indoor-outdoor rug, meaning you could use this to carpet a deck, have a rug outside on a patio, or use it indoors as a normal rug, carpet, or carpet runner. Santorini is also 100% PET Outdoor-grade fibers, meaning it is a polyester made with recycled plastic, making it an eco-friendly option. The Fabrica WATERcolor in Terra Verde is made with 100% EnVision Nylon, making it a highly durable, yet soft option for a rug. One of our favorite elements of this rug option is the mix of high and low pile heights, giving the carpet itself more dimension to the surface itself and the room as a whole.
As for the paint colors, the palette is centered around Sherwin William’s Rosemary. This color would be used as a color drenching option for a room, an accent wall, cabinets, furniture, and most other surfaces. Plants would work well with bringing the earthy-green tones to other spaces as well, tying Rosemary into other rooms that are a different color entirely. As a complimentary color to the Rosemary, Riverway also behaves the same way, working great for most surfaces. If you are not looking for a lot of color and want to use it sparingly for your space, White Tail is a fantastic color to use in nearly every room of the house. White Tail is a warm white that works wonderfully with Rosemary and Riverway, as well as move the warmth offered by the flooring options upwards into the space. Even the less warm tones, closer to cool tones, found in Calacatta d’Oro or Dove Feather work well with White Tail. Finally, for baseboard options, we have Tricorn Black for those spaces that are begging for extra drama to be added and Alabaster for those trim pieces that want to blend into the wall. Tricorn Black may feel daunting at first, but we think it would work well in a space like a hallway, where you want to have a stark contrast between the baseboards, door frames, and the door itself from the wall. If the walls are painted White Tail in the hallway, the Tricorn Black will look absolutely stunning!
